An authentic local capture of the cartridge. The visual guides below explain the decisions to look for.
Racer turns the brick-game screen into a three-lane road. Move left or right to avoid traffic, pass cars to build the score, and use BOOST only when the route ahead is clear. Reading the next gap matters more than constantly changing lanes.
Watch traffic before it reaches the bumper
Your car sits near the bottom while traffic moves toward it. Look higher up the road to identify the next blocked lane. If you wait until a car is beside you, the decision becomes urgent and the adjacent lane may already be unsafe. Choose a destination while there is still visible separation.

A lane is safe for a period, not forever
An empty strip at the bottom can contain another car farther up. Before moving, check both the immediate collision area and the traffic approaching it. The best lane now may be different after the next pass. Keep reassessing after each group rather than selecting one favourite lane and hoping it stays open.
Boost changes the margin for error
The red key activates a temporary faster road movement, followed by a cooldown. Passes made during boost score more, but traffic also reaches you sooner. It is a useful action when you have already read a clear route. Pressing it to escape confusion tends to shorten the time available to resolve that confusion.

Learn with a specific target
PLAY is an endless run; JOURNEY offers twelve stages with pass, score or survival goals. FIRST LAP asks for eight passes and is a sensible place to learn the road. Read its extras before boosting, because the card can reward a run without that action. The task determines whether speed is helpful.
Work through your first eight passes
Consider an opening where your car begins in the middle lane and a single traffic car approaches there. The left lane is empty nearby, while another car is visible higher in the right lane. Moving left once gives you a route past the immediate threat without steering toward the second one. Stay there while you inspect the next arrivals; returning to the centre is a new decision, not a required part of the dodge.
On FIRST LAP, the run ends after eight passes. It starts at speed one, so an unboosted clear earns 80 points from those eight cars and finishes before the first speed increase. That makes it a useful controlled lesson: the road is not getting faster during this particular goal. The extras are NO BOOST and completion within 60 seconds. Your first job is to recognise eight safe passages, rather than search for a braking button or try to chase traffic from behind.
If an apparently empty lane causes a crash
Check the whole traffic sprite, including the car that is already passing below you. Lane changes are checked for collisions immediately; they do not grant a safe transition animation. Moving into a lane a fraction too soon can therefore end the run even when the car you were watching is farther up the road. On the next attempt, delay that particular return until the older car has cleared your footprint. Racer responds only to left and right for steering: up and down are not acceleration or braking controls.
A focused practice attempt
Play the first available level without boosting. Before each lane change, identify the nearest car in the destination lane. If you cannot see a reason to move, stay put until the road gives you one. The goal is controlled avoidance, not maximum steering activity.
